Unit 35 - User Design elements

Updated: Jan 21, 2022

User Design is a vital part of the user interface. It is also important to consider the design elements for a user interface for a website or games. Prior to my good, bad website for a UI design blog, I provided examples of what makes good and bad UI design and the good and bad websites. https://cade-mason.wixsite.com/website-1/post/unit-35-good-bad-and-the-user-experience-for-ui-design Design Thinking: Empathise, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test.

Design Thinking is a popular iterative process for designers to "to understand the user, challenge

assumptions, and redefine problems in an attempt to identify alternative strategies and solutions

that might not be instantly apparent with our initial level of understanding." "Design thinking revolves around a deep interest in developing an understanding of the people for whom we’re designing the products or services. It helps us observe and develop empathy with the target user. Design thinking helps us in the process of questioning: questioning the problem, questioning the assumptions, and questioning the implications."

Design Thinking helps us understand the clients/users' needs challenging and facing problems. Examples of User Interface elements

Button

Website context: communicates users they can perform particular actions such as submitting. Buttons is a good example of UI design with functions. In video games, buttons are important they help the player out by knowing what that button does inside the game.

Checkbox

Checkboxes allows users to provide choices, answers for filing in survey feedbacks for websites.

In video games, checkboxes are very useful for checklists and objectives for quests and missions.

Comment

For websites, comments are vital to freedom of speech and convey their opinions or state how they feel. Comments are perfect for providing feedback in user surveys.

In video games, comments are a way to state their opinions or are a note of the objective of the game.

Dropdown

Dropdown boxes are a controversial and lazy web design and allow users to select an item from the list allowing that to have a drop-down box.

There are drop-down boxes in video game platforms and storefronts too such as Steam.

Feed

Icon

Icons act as images to communicate a variety of things for users. They communicate and trigger specific options.

Tab bar

Tab bars appear at the bottom of a mobile app and allow users to quickly move back and forth between the primary sections of an app.
