SWOT: Strengths. Weaknesses. Opportunites. Threats. An overall analogy

Updated: May 25, 2020

SWOT is an acronym for: Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats.

Here I will be doing self-analysis and analysis regarding game companies for certain questions that I can't answer for myself.

Strengths

What advantages does an organization have? - Organizations have links/associations with game companies

- Organizations tend to have management, preparation, and arrangements

What do you do better than anyone else?

To be quite honest, I'm not sure what I excel at compared to anyone else. I mainly think of myself as either average as I gain experience or the fact that I am well rounded in what I do aside from coding/programming.

What do people in your market see as your strengths?

- General marketing

- good organizing

- arrangements

Weaknesses

What could you improve?

- Social skills

- teamwork

- 3D modeling

- programming/coding (though I'm not sure if it's worth improving.)

- art

- lack of experience in game engine software (I.e Unreal Engine and Unity)

- mental state (anxiety and patience)

What should you avoid?

- Breaching copyright laws

- lack of organizing

- miscommunication

- competence

- no revision for presentation

What are people in your market likely to see as weaknesses?

- Organizing

- miscommunication

- Technical issues

Opportunities

What good opportunities can you spot?

- When companies are looking to hire staff

- group project advertisements

- ease of access

What interesting trends are you aware of?

- Cloud Gaming

- VR (Virtual Reality)

- upcoming games (always an ongoing trend.)

- The ninth generation of video games

Threats

What obstacles do you face?

- Competition with any companies (Retail, marketing, games)

- People with the same talent when facing job interviews. Could be better or could be worse than you are

- Technical procedures

- Presenting your idea to many people

What are your competitors doing?

- Competitors could show similar projects or a product of the game itself compared to your own product.

- Presenting their product in the best way possible

- Pitching out their ideas and concepts in the game industry
