Probability

Updated: Sep 6, 2019

In Leigh's double lessons of maths and logic fundamentals (28/1/19), we learned probability. Probability is the likelihood of something to happen or occur in an event.

We used Venn diagrams and fractions to match probabilities. We tested by dice and coins on the first lesson to demonstrate on how the logic within probability is used. There were 18 students in the class. To simplify, it was a chance of tournament. Whoever won moves to the next round. They either win or lose till the winner is decided. The heads and tails is on a 50/50 or 1/2 chance of probability. Whereas the six sided dice is based on the 1/6th side of the dice. If I got the number 4 there would be 2/6 chances of them overtaking me. If they land a 3 or less they lose, if they land on a 4 it's even and if they get a 5 or over they win.

Going back to Venn Diagrams, we looked at mutually exclusive events (events that don't collarate within each other) and independent events (events that collarate with each other.) Mutually doesn't include the center part of the venn diagram whereas the independent does.

The AND probability, you would have to do 1/4 times 1/4 = 1/8 whereas the OR probability is where you do 1/2 + 1/2 = 2/4 (which is an equal of 1/2 by the way.).
