I will be going over two current topics from the game industry.
Backward Compatibility.
Recently, there's been rumors going around that Sony could be introducing a fully fledged, entire backward compatibility suggested by a Sony Patent. Although knowing Sony's treatment and recent track record of backward compatible games, one would say that this would feel unlikely or that its asking too much of them. Suggested in this article. A prime example being Playstation Now which is in some ways, anti-consumer for the absurd, overpriced asking prices and business system. Making backward compatible games harder for the consumers to obtain
Despite that, the patent Mark Cerny (The guy who designed the PS4) will allow the PS5 to run all previous home console PlayStation software. Meaning that, it'll cover from PS1-4 for backward compatibility suggested in this article. This would be one of the best factors that'll benefit its for the PlayStation 5.
How could they handle it backward compatibility. One thing that would benefit the consumer is that they could let the PS3-4 discs run (depending on the compatibility of the disc drive) or they could set up a digital marketplace where you pay a reasonable price subscription for the PS5. One thing they could go about backward compatibility is to prevent modded and jailbroken consoles for the PS4. An issue occured with modded PS2s, making the PS3's backward compatibility less viable and efficient.
This also happened with the Xbox 360. Despite that however, the way Microsoft handled the Xbox One backward compatibility was very superb and was done quite well in the process. You could insert your Xbox Original and 360 discs without much hassle. There was no compulsory to pay any extra fees to play backward compatible games on the generation 8 consoles.
High definition gaming
As technology moves into a rapid pace, we're in the age of gaming where the HD goes up. There are three types of high definitons; High Definition (HD), Ultra High Definiton (UHD) and Extreme High Definition (XHD). The HD resolutions range from 720p-1080p. UHD's resolutions range from Whereas XHD resolutions go beyond its horizon but right now there doesn't seem to be a definitive limit. If you want to find out click on this link. Currently we're on 4K but as we say this we're close to 8K. Nvidia recently introduced their newest and most powerful graphics card on the gaming market: The GeForce 20 series. Ranging from 2060-2080 TI graphics cards. If you want to find out more about the 2080 TI product, click here.
The 4K trend became a following and demanding trend in 2016. The first gaming console models to have 4K features were Playstation 4 Pro and Xbox One S. Whilst they're not native 4K, they were upscaled. On the other hand, Xbox One X did have the native 4K feature.
I found a comparison of specs for the Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro.
They say that the more memory you have, the faster the hardware performs. Xbox One X has (slightly) better specs in all aspects compared to the PlayStation 4 Pro.
